About LaDeitra Adkins

LaDeitra Adkins is a family law practitioner who developed a heart for social justice and helping others at an early age by watching her grandmother tirelessly serve the community and advocate for others. Her grandmother believed and often said that one must ‘give ‘til it hurts’, the same guiding principle that has remained with LaDeitra and fosters her own service to others.

A graduate of Dallas’ Skyline High School, LaDeitra studied Criminal Justice at Prairie View A&M, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1997. She is the first in her grandmother’s lineage to become a college graduate. LaDeitra went on to obtain her Juris Doctor degree in the year 2000 from South Texas School of Law.

LaDeitra has practiced law for over 16 years concentrating generally in the area of family law and more specifically, child welfare and juvenile law matters. She also serves as amicus attorney for children in high-conflict private child custody cases and has handled a number of these complex cases as principal attorney.

LaDeitra is a past chair of the Juvenile Justice Committee and the 6A Grievance Committee, both calculated positions extending her desire to serve into her profession.

After helping a number of colleagues accede to the bench, LaDeitra founded Candidate Connection Group, a campaign consulting firm whose clients shared her values, her respect for others and a respect for the rule of law.

In her commitment to serve and give back to the community, LaDeitra continues to dedicate innumerable pro bono hours representing grandparents seeking custody of their grandchildren.

LaDeitra has one child, 3 year old Sarah Louise, and serves as the YMCA coach of Sarah’s soccer team. She also has a dog named Coco Chanel.  She also enjoys mentoring up and coming law professionals in the DFW area.
